Banff ♡
There were many things that I’d always wanted to do that I finally did for the first time while I was in Canada.
On my fourth day there, ate and her husband took me to the Canadian Rockies, a mountain range with ice-capped mountains even in summer.
First they took me to Banff town, which is one of the prettiest towns I’ve ever been. ❤️ Even their McDonald’s was pretty.
Next they took me to Lake Louise. Standing at the edge of the turquoise water, watching people kayaking in the distance, I understood why it is one of the Rockies’ most popular attractions. It was really beautiful even though it was cloudy when we were there. 😍
The next day we drove to the Columbia Icefield and walked on the Athabasca Glacier! It is the most visited glacier in North America, and it was such a special experience, especially because it’s possible that in 80-100 years, it won’t exist anymore because of global warming. 😢
The night before, we camped in a teepee tent. I’d always wanted to go camping, so I had so much fun trying to start a fire and preparing our sleeping bags.
It was very cold at night, and the campsite is in the middle of the forest, so people have seen bears there. We had to be really careful to keep food and also tissue, toothpaste, shampoo, and anything with a scent in the car because they attract bears.
I’m really scared of bears, so thought I would have a hard time sleeping, but I was so tired, so I fell asleep very quickly and slept deeply. 😆
The next morning, I was still alive. Yay! 😆
Before breakfast, I walked to the nearby river (just 3 minutes away). The view was beautiful, so after breakfast, I took my friends there to see it.
While I was showing them the view, a man from another tent came and said, “Hey guys, I just wanted to let you know that I saw a big black bear walk through here just 3 minutes ago.”
PANIC!!!! 😱
I jumped up to my feet and told my friends we had to go, go, go, go. 😆
The bear didn’t see us (lucky!) and we didn’t see the bear (unlucky??).
Actually, the only wild animal I saw in the Rockies were mountain sheep.
They’re not as cool as bears or as big as moose, but I did see cooler and bigger sights that I don’t think I’ll ever forget.
