Homework…and thoughts

Today is the birthday of one of my good friends. In the Philippines, birthdays are a big deal. If we can, we book tables at a restaurant or prepare a lot of food at home, and we invite friends and family to celebrate with us. It isn’t possible now because of the coronavirus, so my friend had just lunch and cake at home.

We had a video call with another friend in the afternoon to make her birthday a little bit more special, and during the call I was reminded how lucky Japan has been during this pandemic. People living in this country have had more freedom than most people around the world since the coronavirus spread. It isn’t easy because some people have died or lost their job or had to close their business, but people here have been relatively lucky and that’s important to remember, I think.

I don’t know why I’m saying this. 😂 😂 😂 😂

I guess I just don’t have anything else to write about and I wanted to say something else before giving my students their optional homework for today:
