Vancouver, Pt. 2 ♡
In our last day in Vancouver, we went to Granville Island to shop. There were a lot of really cute shops with really cute stuff, but I didn’t get anything because I didn’t need anything. 😆 We all enjoyed window shopping though.
After that, we drove to the middle of the city, parked underground and walked to Gastown, which is popular for its clock, which is one of the only few steam clocks in the world.
Finally, because ate knows I love reading and visiting bookstores, they took me to a really old bookstore that sells used books and let me stay there as long as I wanted while they waited at a nearby cafe.
It wasn’t allowed to take pictures inside the bookstore, so I couldn’t take pictures, but it was really beautiful. ♥️ There were books in every shelf, on top of the shelves, on the counter, and on the floor – everywhere! It was so magical and exciting. 🤩😆
There wasn’t much else to do in Gastown, so we returned back to the car after three hours.
This is what we saw:
The window of the passenger’s seat was broken and there was broken glass everywhere.
Ate’s husband looked inside because he left one of his phones in the car, but it was still there so we wondered what had happened.
I said, “Maybe somebody accidentally broke the window?”
And then, just after I said that, I realized something.
In Canada, I always had two bags with me. One was a very small bag where I kept my wallet and my passport and the other was a bigger bag where I kept other things like my glasses, my water bottle, my camera and my earphones.
I always left the bigger bag in the car, and I’d forgotten about it.
When I looked inside the car again, I saw that it was gone. 😱😱😱
I don’t feel so terrible because most of the things in that bag can be replaced and nothing bad happened to us, but it felt really bad to be stolen from.
There were things in that bag that I can’t even remember now. It feels like someone reached inside me and took a piece of my memory, and I hate that someone nameless and faceless can make me feel this way.
I told my Korean friend about it, and she was surprised and asked me if Canada was unsafe. I think, compared to Japan and Korea, it’s not so safe; but I still think it’s a safe country to visit. I think if I had been more careful, I wouldn’t have lost my bag.
The theft happened 3 days before I left Canada, and on my way back to Japan my flight was delayed so the whole trip took 29 hours. 😣
My trip wasn’t perfect until the end, but if I could, I would return to Canada again and again.
