Day 14: Peach…taro

Today’s story, 桃太郎, was like Saturday’s story because it is long and there are many words I didn’t know, but I understood it because I have read it in English before.

It is in one of the stories in a book in Inari-juku. I guess it’s a good story for children, but after reading I thought, “Why did Momotaro go home after killing the demons?” and “If he’s strong and his animal pets are strong, he should kill more demons and help more villages.”

I think that way maybe because the princes, in fairy tale stories I read when I was a child, were always killing dragons and saving princesses; so I think it’s strange that Momotaro went home and lived happily ever after when he’s so strong.
