Good Conversation
During the past three days I was very lucky because I met people who were really great to talk to. They had good insights and they thought about their ideas carefully so our conversations were meaningful and they helped me open my mind a little bit more.
I’m also lucky that I have students who are also great to talk to. Through our conversations I learned a lot about the roles of mothers in Japanese society, the accepted and expected behavior in the corporate world or among businessmen, and all kinds of things. Even some of my students who are in high school have good ideas, and I think it’s great that they can construct their own opinions not only based on what they hear from the media and other people but also based on what they believe is right.
And I think people like those are the best kind of people to have conversations with because they make me think about what I know, what I don’t, and what I should.
