Japanese Lesson: に and で again
In my Japanese lesson last week I had a hard time understanding what exactly was the difference between に and で, so I was happy with today’s unit because it was about the two prepositions. The examples in the textbook and the examples my teacher gave me were very helpful in making me understand them better, but I don’t think I can use them properly.
Still, I’m satisfied because I think I found out the reason (or maybe it’s just one reason) why Japanese prepositions are a challenge: unlike English prepositions that are used after a verb or before a noun, に and で are used after a noun. This confuses me, but knowing this at least gives me a rule to follow when I’m making sentences. Now I just have to remember which nouns and verbs are used with に and which ones with で…
